Gig Rowing

It's been a busy few weeks for the BHYC Gig Rowing Bembridge members and despite storms and rain we've been able to get on the water for some social and training rows. In addition, it was a great pleasure for BHYC Gig Rowing Bembridge, to be incorporated into the Fitting Out Supper for the very first time this year. BHYC Gig Rowing started 8 months ago and is going from strength to strength, so it was a great pleasure to be included to eat, drink and celebrate the successes together across the sailing and Gig rowing members.

The Awards given to the Gig Rowers included Sid Duncan for his achievements as a new Cox winning the title of 'Most Improved Cox'. The Award was sponsored by Sarah Price, joint founder of the Gig Rowing. The Award for 'Most Rowed' was awarded to Fiona Dawson and Lynn Jackson. The Award was sponsored by Polly Schafer, joint founder of Gig Rowing. The Wooden Spoon Awards were given to Fiona Dawson, Tony Burton and Debbie Clarke, with funny stories and adventures to tell. Special thanks to Fiona Dawson who made the Wooden Spoon Oars.

We are also encouraging all members, of any age with no previous experience required to come and have a try at Gig Rowing so please just contact us or book at row on the bhyc website.

The Gig Steering Group are now planning out more rows for weekends and evenings to provide as much opportunity for new people to give it a try. If you have any questions please contact us at gigrowing@bhyc.org.uk
