Brading Haven Yacht Club is a recognised RYA Dinghy Training Centre and we run our After School Club for Junior and Youth sailors from April to September. We follow the RYA OnBoard program.
The Club is very much a community based club and we have a long tradition of teaching young members to sail and run sailing sessions throughout the year. After School sessions are for BHYC cadets, local children from schools, Scouts, Brownies and other local groups to come and join in the fun of on the water activities from sailing , powerboat, stand up paddleboarding and kayaking.
Each sailor receives an RYA logbook and is awarded the appropriate certificate at the end of the sessions if RYA stages are booked.
Onboard offers anyone aged 8 up to 16 years old the chance to try sailing and on the water fun through a local sailing club. The programme teaches a wide range of skills that can help every cadet on the water and in life generally. On the water offers excitement, exhilaration, relaxation and endless enjoyment. Also Onboard has a big effect on personal development, increased confidence and greater independence and helps improve communication skills. Whether you join on your own or as part of a group, you'll be sure to make new friends- you don't need to have sailed before so come and join us on the water this year.

| Groups | Groups will be 5 cadets plus instructor due to Covid restrictions |
| Kit | You will be sent a kit list before the sessions. BHYC have buoyancy aids which the cadets can use |
| Boats | For the sessions we use H10s, Teras, Picos and Lasers. Cadets may also use their own boats. |
Paddleboards and Kayaks will also be used for some of the sessions

Before the session starts you will be invited to meet all the instructors and have a look around the Club. Kit lists will be given out and you will have the opportunity to ask any questions and we will inform you how to book online. Booking is first come first served and any parents that would like to volunteer to help on the water or shore at these sessions please let us know.
